Tranmere story

David Kelly is a former Republic of Ireland international striker who began his career with Walsall. He later represented West Ham United, Leicester City, Newcastle United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Sunderland and Sheffield United during a long Football League career.

Kelly joined Tranmere Rovers from Sunderland in 1997. He captained Rovers in the 2000 League Cup final at Wembley and scored their equaliser before Leicester City won 2–1. At international level, he appeared for the Republic of Ireland at UEFA Euro 1988 and the 1990 and 1994 FIFA World Cups.
